A Christmas Song for the Bereaved

A baby born in the night
To rescue creation from its plight
Creator confined
And set to die
On the hill of Calvary

(Chorus)
He’s come.
He’s here.
The King of Kings has drawn near.
Into our mourning
Into our suffering
Emmanuel
The Son of God.

The entire world within his sight
Into our darkness came the light
Cradled and asleep In a manger
God a baby now subjected to danger

(Chorus)
He’s come.
He’s here.
The King of Kings has drawn near.
Into our mourning
Into our suffering
Emmanuel
The Son of God.

A spark of light birthed
The King of Kings clothed in dirt.
Because He saw
The broken hearts we carry
And The baby we’ve buried

(Bridge)
Creation groans
As Death delivers its blow
The suffering mourn
It’s a song we now know
Yet, listen here to the Son of Man born.
A different song has begun to ring.
“Hark! The herald angels sing.
Glory to the newborn King”

(Chorus)
He’s come.
He’s here.
The King of Kings has drawn near.
Into our mourning
Into our suffering
Emmanuel
The Son of God.
