Psalm 123 Remixed

Our Eyes Look to the Lord Our God

To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!

Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he has mercy upon us.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough suffering.

Our soul has had more than enough
of innocent children and infants’ hearts stop their beatings,
of hearing mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers weep bitter tears.

Have mercy on the mothers Lord who are wailing
Have mercy on the fathers holding the mothers with silent tears in their own eyes.
Have mercy on the sisters and brothers, who wonder how long and others trying to remember a face that should be in front of them.
Have mercy on the grandparents who watch their own children suffer as they carry the loss of their grandchild.
Have mercy on the friends and loved ones who mourn while sitting inside a heavy grief that is not their own and choosing to be changed by it too.

Have mercy Father.
